Every time we drive by my daughter talks about the cows. We talk to the cows. We yell "Good MOOOOOrning" to the cows and darling daughter laughs and laughs. Then the questions start...Why are they by the trees? It's shady there.
Why are they walking to the barn? It's feeding time.
What are they saying to us? Go away.
Do you think they know us? Yes.
What are they saying to each other? There go the crazy people again.
Why are they playing leap frog? They kicked the football into the neighbors yard and don't have anything else to do...
And then the question of all questions...
Why are they all white? They're a different kind of cow.
What kind? I don't know.
WHY NOT?......I'll look it up on the computer when we get home.
Okay, I don't have the answer to every thing. If I had known there were such things as a text service that answers all your questions, I would have called and asked Gwen at Murphy Grace Home. But I didn't. I really meant to find the answer online but every time I turned on the computer I was compelled to check on all my bloggy friends and soon forgot about the all white cows.
Then one day I was hanging out in French Lique, Texas and saw a photo of an all white cow! The caption said, "This is a Charolais Heifer"! In her infinite wisdom Dixie had answered my question without even knowing I had one.
Just to be sure I pulled up my little white heifer photo, and put it next to Dixie's little white heifer photo...and they were almost a mirror image! What did I tell you Dixie? We are in a parallel universe!
Below is my original photo. Have I told you how much I love my camera's 10x optical zoom! It keeps me from having to climb over fences into cow pastures! But it's still small and lightweight. Love it, but can't tell you what it is 'cause I don't remember.
I'm also left with memories of my grandmother who fondly called me "you little heifer" and my sister...but we won't discuss cow tippin' in front of you know who.
I almost forgot ~ Cotton Blossom, please tell Mama Cow we said Good MOOOrning when you drive by to let the kids wave!
You all watch out for the hay trucks and have a great weekend!
Dawn

Hey Dawn....Cute post!
~Patti
Hello. I recently found your blog and am really enjoying it. I grew up on a farm and now live on a farm again(for a few more weeks). We talked to everyone on the farm all the time, including the cows, pigs, ducks, horse, sheep, etc. There is nothing wrong with talking to them. You should only start worrying if you think they are answering you back! Blessings to your family.
So cute! I always feel so sorry for cows when I see them... they look so sad :(
Cute post however!
Stephanie
Hilarious! I thought I was the only one that drove by cows and asked inane questions.
*Do they get bored?
*Do they know that they are going to be on a plate next month?
*Don't they realize that if they went on a hunger strike, they wouldn't be on the plate?
*Can they tell the difference between my horn and other cars?
*Do you think they would fit in my trunk? It would be a short ride to my house...
*If I opened up that gate would they run to freedom?
What is worse is that there are times that I am alone in the car and asking these questions to myself out loud!
And don't get me started about when there are goats out there. I always have to pull over and say hi. Did you know that electric fences hurt? Ouch!
Yes...LOL I was up at that ungodly hour of the night. I was determined to get it done. I get so far behind in visiting...that is my main concern. They will think I don't care and that really is upsetting...You know?
Hugs!
Dawn...it is 107 degrees outside.
Just thought you should know.
OK that comment was because I wanted to stick with my tradition of leaving totally unrelated comments on your blog...
But now that I got that outta the way...CUTE POST...and these commentators of yours are my kinda gals, so funny...or were they being serious? either way I laughed.
Of course you can link to my blog, wish I new how to do fancy links and all...show off.
My blog is your blog...oh my gosh...can I do that??? Can I hire someone (you) to write my blog?
Cuz that would be great...OR BETTER YET...you can pack boxes and change diapers...and I'll write both of our blogs...
what say you?
"No?" "you wouldn't want to watch your blog go down the drain like that."??? Harsh Dawn, that's just harsh.

Dawn - that was just about the cutest post ever! I can just hear you guys holding that conversation!!!!
GREAT JOB!!
HAGD! Karen
110* in the shade...
~and~
Pancakes? In the microwave?
You can do that?
So why do I remind you of cows? Should I be offended? :) Tippin'? I'm not finding your train of thought here. Do you even have a train?
-Aforementioned sister! :)
Come on sis. You know when you moved to SoCal you told everyone that all we had to do up here was cow tipping! And they believed you!
Dawn
cute post! just wondering... when you drive by the cows in the afternoon, do you say good aftermoooooooo ? :)
Good one DeeDee. I think there are going to be a lot of confused cows and farmers out there this weekend wondering why all these crazy ladies are yelling out there windows!
MOOOOOO to you. Who even knew there were white cows.
I remember when my daughter was young..questions, questions, guestions...mostly medical and now she works for a doctor who can actually answer her questions.
Hello. Just checking out new blogs and really like yours. Feel free to come check out mine if you'd like. :D
I love cows, probably because I grew up on my grandpa's farm and he milked cows. He never had pretty white ones like this though. Have a great weekend Dawn!
Hilarious post....I laughed out loud... :-)
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Spencer
Hi Dawn,
Just wanted to thank you for your visit and comment at A Petite Cottage. You are welcome back any time...
~Ana♥
P.S.
Cute post...☺
Thanks for the heads up on the dog park. And also, thank you for the reminder of the Castle Air Force Museum. We took our kids there one year. On our way home President Bush's (the first Pres. Bush) campaign bus drove by us going the other way. They had stopped in Turlock at one of my favorite restaurants and we just missed them. I'm going to wait on the museum till the weather cools down, though.
Cute post. I didn't know what they were called either. We had cows here by our greenhouses til last year when my husbands uncle got rid of them. I really miss them except the smell when we were down wind. Glad you stopped by so I could find you.
Carole
Wonderful post. I am laughing so hard thinking about your daughter and all her questions. I had one exactly like that. My grandmother used to use the term heifer a lot, too---and not about cows.
I've always wondered what the cows were thinking.
morning Dawn! I've had a busy weekend and I'm taking a couple of minutes to visit favorite bloggers... after living in Texas for 26 years, you get to know your beef cattle... I grew up around dairy farms... so those cattle already knew... but the beef... I've had to learn... I have to say... I like the beef cattle best! The Charlois and Angus are my favorites... your's is a beautiful specimen... and 'tres chic... she is French!
china cabinets... it's a good thing all of Bernies magazines are "back issues"... I'd have never found it... but it did make me take a subscription to Better Homes...
have a beautiful week! hope to see you Wednesday!
