We had no plan, no pattern, no pretty picture from a magazine for inspiration. You never know witch way things will turn out when you're winging it. Sometimes it's like you get hit with a bolt of lightening and things just come to life. So don't be afraid to play around, even if you don't know jack about what your doing! Especially at Halloween when you're only limited by your imagination, and your internal fright meter. Like I said before, we only do cute!

These Boots Were Made for Walking Party
I'm so glad Deb is having this Boot Party because I really like boots. Who doesn't love a great pair of boots in the fall? I love cowboy boots with Wrangles (hubby's, not mine!), rich, buttery, brown, leather boots with long fall skirts, and sexy red boots!
And I hope you all have some of those to share 'cause I don't. Even when I was a younger, slimmer version of me, I've never been able to find boots that work. Big feet, big calves, bad ankle...makes it hard to find stylish boots! All I have is basic, black, working in the yard in the fall boots. So I put on my boots and did just like the song says...walked all over...my yard to see what that nasty wind had done the last two days.
Here we go. Functional yes, stylish no!
Nothing like slipping on a pecan on the sidewalk to bust your butt!
I thought I'd move it and inspect the fence but I couldn't even budge it!
(almost like 3-D huh?)
I think I can manage the basket ball hoop alone.
Whew! That was hard to do with one hand and take pics with the other!
Ahhh fall! Can't believe how many leaves are in there! I wonder where the giant beach ball ended up?
Oh, it's right here. I should put that away.
On second thought I'll have one of the kids get it, and the trash can too. It's kinda far over there!
So here's why I love these boots.
Zippers!
Just enough heel.
And if you can see down in there....size 11...to fit my big ole feet.
If you would like to really see some nice boots check out Deb's Boot Party at Ladybug from Texas. I'm expecting to see some great boots, after all, she is in Texas!

Rednesday ~ Fall Frenzy Give~away
Are you one of those people who is totally organized? You've got all your Christmas gifts bought and wrapped by July. You know exactly how many candies you gave to trick-or treaters last year and you never have to give them old Tic-Tacs and stray pieces of gum. Your turkey is thawed before you start stuffing it. I've never been organized. I've tried. We trip over self-help books and the latest-greatest organizing tools and bins everyday but we still can't find two socks that match. The holiday season strikes fear into my heart.
Fall is a crazy time of year anyway. We have 7 family members with birthdays in September and October. Lots of fall sports and activities for all of us. How 'bout those Broncos, Hubby? Mix in blogging this year...I never expected to spend this much time "playing with my friends"! And then there's those special projects like what the wind brought yesterday. My poor little fence!
With all this going on I lose track and before you know it Thanksgiving will be here! Every year I plan to get an early start and do all those fun things like bake cookies with the kids... we get it done but it usually involves the little dough boy and some canned frosting.
If you win you will receive this Christmas Cookies magazine, full of great ideas!
A 5qt. mixing bowl and really nice big wooden spoon.
And yes, the bowl is by Paula!
You'll need to measure so you'll get a set of Paula's red rooster measuring spoons and cups!
A cute little sign so you won't forget any ingredients.
For the decorator in all of us, two adorable paint can tins to fill with cookies.
And finally, this pretty perpetual calendar to help you keep track as the days fly by! It has a pretty little red ribbon.
Oh my gosh! Here it is REDnesday and I forgot to mention all the Reds! I hope you noticed them! LOL!
Hows that for some RED love!
The Fall Frenzy Give~away is open until
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 8p.m. Pacific time.
Winner will be randomly selected from.. a red bowl.
If you want to enter this give~away leave a comment on this post and tell me "I love red".
I will announce the winner on my Nov. 4th, 2009 REDnesday post.
I'd like to send a big THANK YOU to Sue at It's A Very Cherry World for hosting REDnesday every week. Please click over to see all the other red pretties!

I’ve been Boo-ed!!!
Imagine my surprise when I came home after a day shopping at my favorite haunt, WWSW, that's "World Wide Spider Web" for those not in the know, and found Sue from Sullivan and Murphy had just flown in on her broom to drop off this little spook!
Seems that the “spook” has “Boo-ed” me and I have to pass his greeting along.
Now Sue is usually a very nice lady
but today she has her tassels in a knot!
If I don't play along, she might just cast a spell and I'll wake up as a toad.
I don't want to be a toad!
So I'll play along in this little game of tag that was started by Toni @ The Tattered Cottage. When you get “Boo-ed,” you pass along your greetings to four friends, then link up with Toni on her blog. Here’s the poem she sent off to her friends….
Soon Halloween will come to all.
Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.
The spooks are after things to do,
In fact, a spook brought this "BOO" to you.
The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two.
We'll all have smiles on our faces,
When we see who Boo-ed whose places.
and finally, we couldn't have a game of Halloween tag with inviting
1. You have 24 hours to work your spell.
2. Copy and post the Halloween Boo Poem with the instructions for playing.
3. Pick 4 blogs you enjoying visiting and tell why you enjoy visiting them. Add a link to their blog.
4. Go to the original BOO Party post at The Tattered Cottage and hook up to Mr. MckLinky. Make sure the link is to your current post and not your general blog address.
Let's see how fast and far this spreads between now and Halloween.
HAVE FUN AND BOO TO YOU!

For Amy Dawn and Grandpa Pete ~ October 2009 (revised edition)
I was at a loss for words yesterday but want to add the following.
Amy Dawn is the daughter of Debbie at There's An Angel On My Front Porch. Both she and my grandfather, Pete, passed on this month after long battles with cancer. I had emailed Debbie and would like to share what she told me.
"OUR SADNESS IS FOR OURSELVES BECAUSE IF WE ALL COULD SEE WHAT YOUR GRANDFATHER NOW SEES, WE WOULD BE OVERCOME WITH JOY....FOR IN HEAVEN WE ARE ASSURED NO MORE SORROW OR PAIN OR WEEPING. I AM RELIEVED THAT YOUR GRANDFATHER IS SUFFERING NO MORE BUT SAD FOR YOUR SORROW AND PAIN. I KNOW BECAUSE OUR LIVES HAVE BEEN EMBRACED YOUR GRANDFATHER WILL GIVE MY AMY A BIG HUG WHEN SHE ARRIVES SAFELY HOME."
So it was a bit of an emotional day yesterday thinking of that greeting. The photo was one I took during a brief summer thunderstorm. The song, "When I Get Where I'm Going" is beautifully sung by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton and is an uplifting expression of faith.
Thank you Debbie, for sharing Amy's story of faith and courage.

Art therapy
These are our French doors to our little sun room. They are often covered with my daughter's art. Would you like to see behind them? Ha! Not on your life! It's the smallest room in the house but the one we all gravitate to. It's a craft room, extra kitchen storage, tool chest, teen hangout-video game central, and home to Buddy the hamster. In other words, it's not blog-ready and probably never will be. But it does make a great art gallery space!
Sweetie pie is a teen but she has difficulty with fine motor skills so we work a lot on drawing, cutting, pasting, and taping. The great thing is she loves arts and crafts so she doesn't even realize she is "working" on her skills as she does it.
I drew BOO! with white crayon on black construction paper. She cut it out and taped it to this ghost from Micheal's. We put inexpensive scrapbook paper behind the glass for color and she liked it so much we did all the sections this way.
This little happy pumpkin patch is just scrapbook paper with happy faces drawn on each pumpkin. I did the one in the top corner to show what we were doing and she did the rest. She has only recently started adding the pupils to the eyes and the the little wrinkles at the ends of the smiles. :) Her happy face drawings have always had such personality. I just love them. I don't think she thinks about the placement of the faces, she just puts her hand down and where ever it is she starts. It looks like she really does it on purpose.
Jack-o-lanterns are perfect for practicing teeth, and triangles!
She is a pretty prolific artist. It doesn't take much per page to make her happy so I get cheap supplies in bulk. I often find she has gotten up in the middle of the night and done 10 or 20 drawings then gone back to bed.
I made a simple template from a cereal box and had her trace around it onto construction paper then cut it out. She decided on her own that the bats needed happy faces. It looks like this guy even got eyebrows! It's hard to see but she also copied "boo" from the ghost onto the bats. It's so much fun to watch her progress. We're pulling out some stuff she made last year so I'll show you more during week.
Keep and eye out for my 100th Post/100th Follower/Birthday Giveaway coming soon. Whew! That was a mouth full. Since I'm so busy right now, lets just wing it and call it the Fall Frenzy Giveaway. Enjoy your weekend!

More Pretties from Second Sunday
I wish I had picked up this little box.
Darn! Too late!
She is exquisite!
So Beautiful!
This light is about 3 feet tall!
There is so much more to share from last weekend in Sacramento but this week has been a whirlwind for me. I'll try to catch up with some visits during the week, and maybe get a post or two up but I really need to do some things around the house. Does anyone have any idea about hanging that big red tray I shared? Do they make plate hangers that big? So much to figure out..Hugs,
Dawn

Doors of Welcome ~ Halloween
A friendly ghost welcomes you near
to see the pretty flowers here,
but the lights go out and you're unaware
of what frightful things might be lurking there.
A glowing orange light
grins in the night,
you don't dare twitch
or you'll face the wrath of
Pumpkwitch!
But wait! There's more
hanging on a shadowy door,
Halloween creatures howl with scorn
Because we've already eaten all the candy corn!
What? I told you we don't do scary. We do cute!
Now head on over to visit
