Thrifty Thursday ~ Puppy Love

Yeah! It's Thursday, that means it's time to show off our thrifty finds or ideas. Leigh has a great thrifty idea today so make sure you stop over in Bloggeritaville to see what she's up to.

I couldn't pass up this adorable little country print at Goodwill and I'm sure you know why. It reminded me so much of Sunny when he was little. Personally, I think Labbie pups are the cutest pups in the world but I'm sure a few of you will disagree. This print with the double matting and frame was $5.00. Now don't laugh when you scroll down to the next photo. Sunny really did look just like these little pups,
but for about a month...

he looked like a pup on steroids!
He quickly grew into a nicely proportioned Lab and is the sweetest dog around. If anyone ever comes across some vintage looking Labrador Retriever art or classic style figurines, I'd love to hear about it. Most of what I find is from the 70's on and involves a lot of dead ducks or are very modern. Of course if you spot something with a thrifty price tag that would be even better!

Thanks for letting me indulge in a little puppy love!

Slow Recovery

It's been a very long week but we're slowly starting to recover. I've managed to toss together a few quick posts but mostly I've been sleeping whenever my daughter does, which hasn't been very much due to a constant cough and fever that keeps returning. We'll go back to the doctor tomorrow to make sure she hasn't ended up with a respiratory infection on top of the flu.

Since she has taken over the couch the dogs had to find new places to chill. I woke from a nap one afternoon to the sound of snoring. I expected it to be hubby but instead I found Sunny dreaming away on hubby's pillow. At least he's color coordinated with the bedding! Now there's a design tip for you!

Sweetie Pie felt good enough for a few minutes to base coat this little sign we're making for Halloween. Then it was right back to the couch.

I hope to have a nice REDnesday post featuring my new tables from The Green Pea for you later this week. If you don't hear from me till then you'll know Baby Girl is still home with me. By the way, Grandmas rock. I couldn't have made it through this week nearly as well as I did with out my mom helping out around the house and using her Grandma Magic, aka, The Happy Ribbon, to keep our sick sweetie in good spirits. Thanks mom, you're amazing!

Working Dogs

Our Sunny is a real working dog. That's right, he works real hard at being a clown. So when I visited Sandi at The Green Pea yesterday I was inspired to buy Sunny this cute orange tie for fall. We'll work into his Halloween costume next month!

See how hard he's panting. It's not because of the tie. It's because while I was trying to take his photo a bicyclist rode past our yard and Sunny had to work real hard at chasing him away. Poor guy. I've never seen anyone pedal so fast. I felt bad but I knew Sunny couldn't get out and just wanted to race to the corner. It was kind of funny seeing the guy ride like crazy with Sunny in hot pursuit, his orange tie flying in the wind. At least he was happy to sit still for the photo when I called him back.

Now this here is a real working dog. Barney is in charge of customer relations at The Green Pea. That's why he has such a serious tie! It's important to make the customers feel welcome and he does a great job. I can't imagine him ever chasing anyone. He doesn't move to fast. Even though he looks a lot like Sunny he is a bit shorter. Sandi calls him a "Labrasset Hound". Now that's a designer dog! The handsome looks of a lab with the calm mellow disposition of a basset hound. I wanted to bring him home but Sandi said no. I think next time I go I'll take a big duffel bag and see if I can roll him over into it and sneak him out! Besides Sandi I got to meet with Becky from Sweet Cottage Dreams and Jean from In the Garden with Miss Jean. I'll post all about our fun filled day of antiquing in a few days. In the meantime you can find these great ladies, and Barney, in the list on my side bar.
Loving the labbies,
Dawn

Wordless Wednesday: Water and/or Wind

This is my first attempt at participating in an event. I hope I can do Dixie proud and get everything linked up right. Even if I don't I hope you can find your way over to French Lique and visit all the other participants!
