Reaching Way Down Into the Rednesday Bag!

Go ahead and laugh but it's the best I could do this week. I've so wanted to get back to participating in Rednesday with Sue and It's a Very Cherry World but just haven't had anything new to share.

So when my neighbor parked this on our side of the street I had to get some photos. The sign says make an offer! You can see some of our old chicken coops in the back. Hey, we're just outside the city limits, we can be as country as we like!

My neighbor told me it's a kit car called an Invader, but I forgot the year already, something in the 60's. It's made with VW parts. He bought a VW Bug for parts to get it running but he quickly got the bug running so well he deiced to keep it and get rid of this.

Looks like it could go fast, if it had an engine! Okay, I won't keep you any longer. And don't feel you need to comment, LOL! Okay, if you want to humor me say, "Nice red car!" or something like that! I really just wanted to say "Hello" to all my Rednesday friends. It's been a long time and I miss you all! I hope to have some PURDY red stuff to share next week!

Happy Father's Day

Loving, dependable, supportive...

If you have moment, turn up the volume and listen

We had 20 people in all but my photos of the other two tables didn't turn out. I'm sure they are all disappointed I didn't get to share photos of them chowing down!

The big game, featuring my other brother, his boys and my son.

A sweet ending to a fun day!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Mom and Tools

This is my beautiful, awesome mom!

and these photos are from

her "Garden" guest room,

which is a little girl's dream!

I was kind of surprised when we went to the Sacramento Antiques Faire in October that she spent so much time looking at things that weren't so...girly.

In fact, we "lost" her several times. We'd look around and see that she had stopped at a booth with more masculine things that the rest of us girls had walked right past! Here she was talking about the accuracy of one of the historical paintings this man had for sale.

I don't even know what was at this booth but something got her attention.

I bet she spent 20 minutes looking over all the tools at this booth.

When Tracy went to see what was up, mom sent her back for my camera.

I thought she caught the blogging bug!

But she just wanted to show my dad all the great tools she found...

so he'll want to come with us next time!

I have to admit this one's pretty fancy!

I'm afraid we missed the Nov. show because I was so sick but I'm looking forward to December 13th and some last minute Christmas shopping with my pal Gloria from Happy to Be. Those of you in Northern California should check it out. It's easy to get to, parking is free and admission is only $3.00! Believe me, my family is all small town girls and if we can handle the big city you can too. You can get all the information here. Make sure to bring your cameras and introduce yourselves if you see us running around with our cameras (a sure sign of a blogger!) For more pictures check out my other posts, here and here!

Hugs,

Thrifty Thursday ~ Red or Black?

Is it Thursday again already. This week has just flown by. I've barely had time to do a few posts and visit a few blogging friends. Summer seems to be that way! I hope you have time to visit Leigh at Tales from Bloggeritaville to see all the other thrifty finds.

This is not my usually thrifty find. Hubby's birthday was Tues. and I hadn't bought anything yet. We have been trying to get more organized and one thing we can never find are tools. Our garage is detached and a ways from the house so we always end up sticking a screwdriver or hammer in a drawer somewhere to be put away "later". The problem is we never put them in the same drawer and it takes forever to find what we're looking for. The kids wanted to help so we loaded up and headed for Orchard Supply Hardware. I was thrilled to find Craftsman tool chests on sale! (if your interested click on the tool chest for a link to the OSH site to get the details on this sale, it goes through July 18, I think)

50% OFF! That's right a whopping $70 savings for the middle 3 drawer section! But here's the kicker...the sale is only on the BLACK ones not the RED ones. How silly! Other than color they are the exact same! Of course I'm buying the black one....aaauugh! No pull tags for the one I want. I'm thinking...maybe they have some in back anyway...maybe I can get a rain check...Sears is right across the street...do they have the same sale...is $70.00 worth it to load the kids up again in 100+ degrees and make one more stop...for the sake of time and my sanity do I just get the red one?

So I take a deep breath and head for the customer service counter. I grabbed the tag for the red one just in case 'cause I didn't want to walk all the way back with the kids. I showed the lady the tag and told her I wanted the black one that's on sale. She said I would have to go back and show her the exact one...back across the store with kids in tow. She grabbed the sign for what I wanted, then we headed ...back ...to ...the ...front.

I know your wondering why all the walking is such a big deal. Especially since my "kids" are teens. Both of them have special needs. My daughter moves very slowly and gets tired easily. They both talk...a lot...about everything around them. Stores are total sensory overload.

So we finally reach the desk again only to realize she's not there. Evidently she was headed to a different computer or she just gave up on us. We walked back a ways and stood in the intersection of the main rows where I could watch for her. Eventually she came from the front at the other end of the store and hollered, "I think we might have some, I'll be right back". To which I hollered, "I'll take two if you've got 'em!"......

About 15 minutes later, after explaining 100 times why we don't need the giant floating pool raft that could hold a whole basketball team, she comes backs with a big smile.. and says, "The truck is here right now and it's got two, do you want them?" DUH! I did the happy dance all the way through the checkout line! I didn't even flinch when darling daughter started to throw a fit because she wanted the $7.00 tub of ladybugs and sweet son threw one because bugs gross him out. I just grabbed my pick up tag (without any bugs) and headed for the loading dock...did I mention my darling daughter gets hysterical when she sees a forklift...

Thank you OSH lady, you really did go the extra mile for me...and I do mean mile! Happy Birthday Hubby, hope you enjoy your tool box, and the can of pink spray paint...that's for my toolbox!

Three or More Tuesday ~ For the Guys

This Three or More Tuesday is for the guys. For prettier things visit the rest of the Three or More bloggers at The Gypsy's Corner.

We attended the annual 4th of July Parade in Atwater, CA and this was my hubby's favorite entry ~ tractors through the years. You can click on the photos to enlarge and see the dates on the front of each tractor. I'll have to learn how to do the music gadget. For now you'll just have to hum Kenney Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy".
