Happy Thanksgiving

I hope your life is filled with
blessings this Thanksgiving.

These are some things I'm thankful for.

A home filled with the love of family and friends.

A little spice.

A bit of whimsy.

Memories of simple times.

The change of seasons.

Rest.

Red Signs of Fall

Yay! It's Rednesday!

If you love a pop of red as much as I do please visit Sue

and check out the list of other Rednesday participants!

When the red barn flag goes up...

the pomegranates start turning red...

and some are even splitting open...

you know fall is close.

It's almost time to put away the pool toys

and start getting cozy for family movie night!

Good thing I finally learned how to open these things

without ruining the return envelope

Do you have family movie night or game night?

We have several game nights each week and movie night a few times a month.

The kids love it!

Thrifty Thursday

I know, I know, it's almost Friday! But I've got about 6 hours of Thrifty Thursday left here on the West Coast and I'm determined to make it this week. Poor Leigh, I keep telling her, "I'll see you Thursday" but haven't made it in few weeks, maybe several?! I found these dishes at Good Will several weeks ago.

This pretty little fall bowl was $2.00. You can see it on my mantel my fall header. It's a rich yellow with a brown design. It looks almost black and white here.

One thing I don't like about our local Good Will is that they write the price on in permanent ink. Do they all do that?

I got 4 of these cute plates with the little blue mini print for $1.00 each.

More blue and white, again for $1.00. I love the design on this one. It's a strange size, too small for a platter but not really a candy dish or desert plate. It's a reproduction and says dishwasher safe so I know it's meant to be used. I'll use it for decoration anyway but I'm curious about it.

That's it for today. Head on over to Bloggeritaville and say "hey" to Leigh. If you haven't read her story about how she met her husband click on the link below her profile to find it. It's soooooo romantic!

I won't have much time to visit for the next couple of days. I'll get around to everyone Monday. Have a great weekend!

Working Dogs

Our Sunny is a real working dog. That's right, he works real hard at being a clown. So when I visited Sandi at The Green Pea yesterday I was inspired to buy Sunny this cute orange tie for fall. We'll work into his Halloween costume next month!

See how hard he's panting. It's not because of the tie. It's because while I was trying to take his photo a bicyclist rode past our yard and Sunny had to work real hard at chasing him away. Poor guy. I've never seen anyone pedal so fast. I felt bad but I knew Sunny couldn't get out and just wanted to race to the corner. It was kind of funny seeing the guy ride like crazy with Sunny in hot pursuit, his orange tie flying in the wind. At least he was happy to sit still for the photo when I called him back.

Now this here is a real working dog. Barney is in charge of customer relations at The Green Pea. That's why he has such a serious tie! It's important to make the customers feel welcome and he does a great job. I can't imagine him ever chasing anyone. He doesn't move to fast. Even though he looks a lot like Sunny he is a bit shorter. Sandi calls him a "Labrasset Hound". Now that's a designer dog! The handsome looks of a lab with the calm mellow disposition of a basset hound. I wanted to bring him home but Sandi said no. I think next time I go I'll take a big duffel bag and see if I can roll him over into it and sneak him out! Besides Sandi I got to meet with Becky from Sweet Cottage Dreams and Jean from In the Garden with Miss Jean. I'll post all about our fun filled day of antiquing in a few days. In the meantime you can find these great ladies, and Barney, in the list on my side bar.
Loving the labbies,

September 1st! Already?

I just can't believe September is already here. I barely got my spring decorations put away and now it's time to think about fall. It's hard to get in the mood when the high is 103! I told myself I would get this fall flag hung on Sept. 1st and I did it! You see, I'm a procrastinator with a capital PRO. I'm trying though. I know I've shown you some projects I've started. Well there not done yet but hey, I actually got this flag hung up! Baby steps you know.

Speaking of fall in California, fire season is well underway.

Please keep the affected communities and firefighters in your prayers.

Stunning Fall Fabric

Isn't this fabulous bird print just stunning?

I found it at Jo Ann's. The collection is called "Nestled in the Branches". I believe there was a designer's name listed on the sign but I don't see it printed on the salvage edge.

The bird print is "Square Blocks". The floral is "Floral Cluster". There were other coordinating prints including a floral with the light blue background and the rusty print that borders the bird blocks.

Aren't these colors

just scrumptious!

I love how it has the rich fall colors but still has some lighter shades too.

They will make perfect accents to cozy up the living room for fall. Pillows are a given and I'm thinking maybe a table runner for the entry area. I am so excited to find a fabric like this that works for fall but also ties in with the lighter colors of this room! Now if only the weather would start cooling off so it would really begin to feel like fall! Have you started thinking about fall yet or do you hold on to every last bit of summer that you can?
