Thrifty Thursday ~ A Tale of Two Angels

I have always placed a star at the top of my tree but this year I fell in love with the Angels at Michael's. I was looking them over, admiring all the different colors available when an employee came over and said, "They're on sale today". As she quickly changed the sign she added, "But just the traditional ones," and promptly grabbed all the purple angels and whisked them away to a new, pricier display!

I was okay with that, red's my color anyway. But I lost a little Christmas spirit for the moment. I mean, it's just a color, otherwise they were exactly the same. One more trendy, one more traditional. It seemed a little greedy to me, not at all in the spirit of Christmas.

So whatever your style, whatever your color...

Vintage Christmas Monday ~ Happy Birthday Dad!

How time flies! It's Monday again and that means it's time to share our vintage Christmas items with Joan at Anything Goes Here. Today is also my dad's birthday so I thought I'd start off with a vintage Christmas photo of Dad and I!

Isn't he handsome? I can't believe I'm "vintage".

Here's dad not long ago at my nephew's swim meet. He has always been a great supporter for all our activities, from the mid 70's when I started playing softball, through my siblings high school and college days to now with my kids doing Secial Olympics and my nephews doing everything from gymnastics to triathlons. He's always taken the time to be there and cheer us on. He's probably driven more miles up and down this state to kid's sporting events than any dad or grandpa ever. Now for some vintage Christmas graphics. Come to think of it, I guess I probably got my love of graphics from my Dad. He was a graphics art major and has been in the printing industry since college. He and my mom have owned a printing business for about 25 years now, maybe 30. Wow, I need to check on that, I think we should be celebrating! I remember when I was young he did a lot of silk screening and we always had t-shirts in our oven and spread all over the house drying! I remember one of my softball teams was the mustangs and I drew a horse batting. Dad silk screened our uniforms. I'll have to see if I can find a photo of that horse. Funny how things come back to when you haven't thought of them in years.

OK, now for some vintage Christmas graphics!

These are more attic finds. I love that the caption on the box says these are a "clean" way to decorate your windows.

Just stick 'em on and peel 'em off.

Unlike this product which you'll see was very messy. Don't you love the look on her face!

I don't know when these were last used,

but there's a box full, all stuck together!

That leaves me wondering, when you put your Christmas decorations away each year are they neat and orderly? Do you get them all down in a timely manner or are you still finding things you forgot to take down months later? One spring we almost mowed over a string of outdoor lights we had somehow left laying in the sideyard all winter! But if you've read my blog very much that probably doesn't really surprise you, does it? ;)
